Custom Coping and Deck OptionsO.C. Pool Co. specializes in custom coping options. Poured in place bull nose, cantilever edge, and safety grip brick are the most popular choices, but flagstone and other natural materials are also available. This section will help you to decide which design best suits your yard and personal style. Custom Poured Concrete Coping:
Concrete coping is poured in place using a foam and wood form to create the shape. Different foam creates a different shaped bull nose. This technique provides a clean, modern finish. The pool deck is separated with a standard expansion joint to permit structural movement and prevent cracking. See Examples Here
Custom Brick Coping
Brick coping is a popular option, and comes available in several colors and styles. Bricks are individually cut to fit, mortared in place and then grouted to fill the gaps in between. This style is especially popular with homeowners that have existing brick work either as ribbons in the pool deck or on the exterior of the home. A standard expansion joint is used to separate the pool deck.
Custom Stone and Natural Coping
Stone coping is used to create a natural surrounding that blends with other stone accents in the yard, such as; ledger stone planter walls and built in BBQ islands. Stone coping is commonly used in a "Tuscan," theme to create the feeling of an Italian villa. Stone and other natural coping materials are common in tropical themed pools as well. The inside edge is usually left "Raw," or uncut, while the outside edge closest to the deck can be cut to give a clean, straight expansion joint. (Uncut outside edges are possible, but not recommended due to the lack of a straight expansion joint.) |
